December 30, 2013

Hi everyone,

My skin actually is doing a lot better down here. It isn't as dry as it was before. The humidity is cold but great for my skin.

I sang as part of the missionary choir in a stake thing. I also sang with a few other missionaries in the holiday talent show at zone conference. We sang Christmas songs in the choir, and a medley of Disney songs that we changed the lyrics to at zone conference.

No I haven't set goals for 2014. I write in my journal at night before I go to bed.

December 23, 2013

Hi.
I ran out of money this month because it's Christmas.
Zone conference was good. I met Sister Olsen there. It was fun. She remembered coming over and seeing Laurel.
A bunch of alarms went off on Saturday. Thunderstorms, Floods, Tornadoes, etc. We were all fine though.
I should be able to skype home on Christmas. Tentative time is 1:00 or so.
I cut my own hair the other day. It looks pretty good. I'm pretty awesome at cutting hair.

December 16, 2013

We will be using the iPad for lessons and stuff. They said that we could possibly even skype our parents into our lessons to have them help us teach! That would be cool.

This Thursday we will be having zone conference. The weather is pretty cold. It's not as cold temperature wise as Utah is, but with all the moisture in the air it feels really cold.

I won't be going to the temple for awhile apparently, but I will go at least once before I leave. We have a few good investigators. I can't say too much about them though. They want us to keep their privacy. We have a group of kids in a family we are teaching though. 3 part member families. And a couple of military people. That's all really.

Love you!

December 9, 2013

I'm really short on time today. I still haven't gotten any info on whether I'm skyping or calling home or when it is happening.
The members aren't too involved at this point. We are trying to fix it.
Church was cancelled this week because of "ice" and "cold weather" It was really pathetic.
We found out that we will be getting iPads and iPhones next year in January probably, so that will be cool.
We have baptisms coming up still, but the dates changed because church was cancelled. Talk to you soon!

December 2, 2013

 Hi,

Church was good. Sister and Brother Swanson are both really nice. He is the High Priest group leader in the ward. They take good care of us. (She sent the picture of Chad last week.)

We did get the waffle recipe and we are getting stuff to make them today. It's just a normal waffle maker. We had thanksgiving at 3 different places. And they were all massive feasts. They make way more food down here than we did at home, and its all really good. I have gotten a few recipes that I will send home.

Our apartment is always clean (2 people aren't that messy really) and we have a washer and dryer in our apartment so we do laundry whenever we need to. Nothing really to talk about.

The baptismal dates we set are all for separate people. Most of them are from part member families though. Give the family my best!

November 25, 2013

Hi.
The $60 delta charge on my card was for the luggage. It wasn't an overcharge at all. My flight was good. It was early so I slept most of the way there. We drove over to Memphis. It was only a 2 and a half hour drive. I did get my bike, and the bike owner guy says to say hi to you dad.
I saw the temple. It is really small. Smaller than our stake center is. Elder White and I get along really well. He is a big computer guy also, so we always have something to talk about. He has been out for about 18 months now, so he is heading home soon. Training is 12 weeks, but the training isn't really serious training. It's more of a help you get used to it kind of a thing. I'm in the Memphis 2nd ward. We are going over to a ward family's house for dinner on Thanksgiving. We are fed literally every night. The members out here love feeding us. Still haven't had squirrel though. There are 2 other Elders in our ward (we cover the east, they cover the west) and they are both good guys.
My schedule is too long to type, but it's basically wake up, study, proselyte and go to appointments, go back to bed. I haven't had a baptism or anything yet, although we did set 3 baptismal dates this week so they will be coming up soon.

Love,
Other Elder Udy.

P.S. The following  picture was sent from a member where Chad and Elder White had dinner his first Sunday in Memphis.

Dear Brother & Sister Udy,
Your Missionary has arrived safely!
We are so excited that Elder Udy is here. We truly look forward to working with him. What a blessing to have a son on a mission. We will do everything in our power to watch over him while he is in our care.
Thank you for taking the time to write some thoughts about your missionary, it is very helpful for us to know more about him. What a wonderful missionary he will become! He was thrilled to receive your first letter when he arrived at the mission home.
Missionary work is so rewarding and miracles happen on a daily basis. We are anxious to get him to work so he can experience what sharing the gospel and serving others is all about. Thank you for sharing your son with us for a short time and for letting us love him for eternity.
Blessings will come to all of us as we strive to be obedient with exactness and love the Lord with all our heart. What a blessing it is to share the gospel and serve the Lord every day in every way.
With Love and Gratitude,
President and Sister Petersen

P.S. Chad is serving in Memphis, Tennessee.
